Away Game: Ride the Hills of Harriman State Park

It’s always good to spice things up with a different starting point every once in a while. This week, let’s meet up in Harriman State Park (if anyone wants to ride share from Nyack, we can do that too!)

The starting point is the Reeves Meadow Information Center on Seven Lakes Drive near Rt 17 in Harriman State Park (it has free parking!) We’ll ride Seven Lakes Drive to the Palisades Parkway spinning up and coasting down about 1,600 feet of elevation. Since there is no place to buy refreshments (except for vending machines at Tiorati Circle), bring enough water and a snack.

Directions to Reeves Meadow Information Center – Take Rt 17 North, turn right on Seven Lakes Drive. The Visitors Center and parking lot is about a mile and a half on the right.

Note that cell phone service is spotty at best in Harriman.

Route – Seven Lakes Drive
Number of miles – about 25
Drop/no-drop – This is a no-drop ride
Cue sheet –  Not needed

Ride leader – Dave Zornow, Paul Langus
Ride level – B-
Ride leader contact information –
 201-362-9956

Instruction to ride participants – We plan to depart at 8:30, so arrive a few minutes early to prepare so we can leave on time.  Make sure you bring your helmet, have food, 1-2 bottles of water and anything necessary for bike repair (air pump/CO2, tubes, patch kit, etc.)

Let’s face facts: We are fair weather friends! If it’s raining 30 mins before start time — or rain is predicted during the ride — go back to bed. Check WeatherUnderground.com if you aren’t sure!
