Gran Fondo NY Rides Through Nyack on Sun May 17
2015 Gran Fondo NY route through Nyack NY. The route follows NYS bike route 9 going north on Piermont Ave, right on Main with a quick left on Gedney, followed by left on 4th and a right on North Broadway. Cyclists will continue North on 9W making their way to Bear Mountain.
The fifth annual international Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York (GFNY), rolls through Nyack on Sun May 17 between 8a and 9a, capping an exciting GFNY World 2014/15 season of races in Italy, Cozumel-Mexico, Puerto Rico, Barcelona and Colombia.
Athletes will take on a challenging 100-mile route from NYC to Bear Mountain and back to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal endurance challenge. The 50-mile GFNY Bear on the same day is a non-competitive ride from NYC to Bear Mountain. The challenging and scenic 100-mile race begins on the New York City side of the iconic George Washington Bridge at 7a and winds through the course in New Jersey and New York State that extends up to New York’s Bear Mountain State Park, returning to the finish line in Fort Lee, NJ.
The race draws a spectrum of enthusiasts including CEOs, firefighters, teachers, persons with disabilities and many others passionate about the sport and the experience of riding the challenging and scenic course that traverses New York and New Jersey towns. “GFNY is a great opportunity to stay fit and to challenge myself, especially on the hills,” said Amani Toomer, former New York Giants receiver.
